Wyoming Safety Andrew Wingard Named First Team Freshman All-American

Wyoming true-freshman free safety Andrew Wingard was named to the Football Writers Association of America Freshman All-America Team for the 2015 season.  Wingard was seemingly everywhere on the field during the 2015 campaign for the Pokes and recorded a team-high 122 total tackles, averaging 6.9 solo tackles which ranked 4th in the nation and 1st in the Mountain West Conference.  Wingard became to first Wyoming freshman to exceed 100 tackles in a single season.  He also added 7 tackles for loss, one forced fumble, an interception and two pass break-ups.  The future looks bright for Wyoming’s safety position and Wingard’s sophomore performance could be even better.
