There is a lot going on in the world of Wyoming Athletics this week. Here are a few articles that sums up the week for the Cowboys:
– UW men’s basketball is still in search of its next head coach. Wyoming administration has been flying around the country the last week interviewing candidates but have not officially announced who those candidates are. On Thursday, Wyoming Athletics Director Tom Burman released a letter to the fans explaining a bit about the hiring process and the confidentiality factor.
– Two names have been at the top of the list this week for the men’s basketball coach position. Those two, who have presumably been interviewed by UW administration are Old Dominion’s Head Coach Blaine Taylor and St. John’s assistant Mike Dunlap. Another name that has been mentioned is former Wyoming head coach and current Florida assistant Larry Shyatt.
– The Wyoming Cowgirl basketball team played in the third round of the WNIT on Thursday against the Colorado Buffs at the Arena Auditorium. Once again the Cowgirls drew a large crowd to the AA but unfortunately came up short against the Buffs. The Cowgirls finish the season at 24-9.
– Wyoming football started spring practice a few weeks ago and held its first scrimmage of the spring on Saturday. Freshman quarterback Brett Smith looked good as he went 21 of 27 passing for 208 yards and two touchdowns. Quarterback Emory Miller Jr. also saw time. He finished 13 off 22 for 83 yards. The two are currently in a battle for the starting job. They will be joined this fall by Adam Pittser.
